SnoreMedic mouthpiece can only reduce snoring levels in individuals who suffer from oral airflow obstructions. It is not suitable for nasal snorers and it should not be used in treating obstructive sleep apnea without prior consultation with a medical professional. Potential side effects include jaw fatigue, sore gums, and excessive salivation.

SnoreMedic anti-snoring mouthpiece is a relatively new addition to the snoring aid market. So far, it has received rather good user reviews. It falls into the category of mandibular advancement devices and promises to eliminate snoring caused by an obstructed oral airway. We have decided to test this novel device and see what makes it different from other snoring aids of its kind. Learn all about our findings in this SnoreMedic review.

What Is SnoreMedic?

SnoreMedic is a typical mandibular advancement device (MAD) designed to keep your lower jaw in a frontal position, preventing the soft tissue in the back of your mouth and throat from collapsing and narrowing the oral airway. It can be used by both mouth and nose breathers thanks to the employment of the air-hole system. It is incredibly easy to use and largely effective in case of snoring caused by oral airway obstructions.

The device is made of thermoplastic material and it can be easily molded using the boil-and-bite system. This is necessary, as the device comes in only one size and everyone’s mouth and jaws are unique. It is also rather easy to clean. You can clean it with toothpaste after every use and you can also occasionally use a denture cleaning solution for better results.

How Is It Different?

Snore Medic Different

We want this SnoreMedic review to be as honest as possible, which is why we have to say that there really is not much that sets SnoreMedic mouthpiece apart from other mandibular advancement devices on the market. It is made as simple as possible, which is not necessarily a bad thing. It does not feature any sophisticated adjustment systems nor does it include any special features or additional elements. It is easy to mold, easy to use, and everything about it is completely straightforward.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer of SnoreMedic mouthpiece did not really take the time to inform its customers about some important details, including whether the device is free of any potentially toxic substances or allergens, including BPA and latex, and whether it has been approved by the FDA. Since we could not find it among the MADs approved by the FDA and there is no word about it being approved on the company’s official website, we assume it has not been cleared. This is hardly unusual, but we do prefer devices that have received the FDA’s seal of approval. We also assume that it does not contain any allergens since this would have to be clearly stated on the product box.

We were not too happy about the thickness of the device, but it proved to be unproblematic for most users. It is not too comfortable, but MADs rarely are. It does not cause any severe soreness and in most cases, it may only cause drooling and slight discomfort, especially the first 3-4 nights. After the first week of nightly use, most users get used to wearing the device.

The good news is that the device has proved to be effective and durable. It eliminates snoring in the largest number of cases and it can stay perfectly effective for up to 15 months. However, if the wearer suffers from bruxism (teeth grinding), it is recommended that the device is replaced every 8 months.

Fitting The Mouthpiece

Snore-Medic Fitting

The fitting process is extremely simple and takes only a few minutes. It requires one pot of boiling hot water, one bowl filled with cold water, a spatula or tongs, and perhaps a stopwatch.

First, bring a pot of water to boil and let it sit for 20 seconds. In the meantime, make sure that the air hole plug is (properly) inserted into the device. Submerge the device into hot water and wait for 17 seconds. Use a spatula or tongs to remove the device from the water and let it cool for 5 seconds.

Place the device into your mouth, making sure that your lower teeth are in front of your upper teeth but not to a degree that would cause discomfort. Bite into the device, making sure that all your teeth sink into it. If necessary, you can use your fingers to mold the device so it goes smoothly over your gums. This part of the process should not take more than a couple of seconds.

Once you are done molding the device, submerge it in cold water and let it cool for a minute or two or until it is firm. Remove the device from the water and try it on again to see if it fits well. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not state whether the process of molding can be repeated, so it is for the best to make sure you get it right the first time.

Summary:

  • Bring a small pot of water to boil and let it sit for 20 seconds.
  • Submerge the device in hot water and wait for 17 seconds.
  • Remove the device from the water and let it cool for 5 seconds.
  • Bite into the device, keeping your lower jaw in a frontal position, and wait for a few seconds.
  • Remove the device from your mouth and keep it in cold water for 1 minute or until firm.

Bottom Line

SnoreMedic is a simple and budget-friendly solution for snoring caused by an obstructed oral airway. It seems that the manufacturer created it with ease of use and simplicity in mind, not trying to make a unique and advanced mouthpiece, which is perfectly fine. What is important is that SnoreMedic really does work. The manufacturer’s confidence in the product is reflected in the 30-day money-back guarantee – if it does not prove to be effective within a month, you get your money back. If you are looking for an affordable anti-snoring solution and like your purchases risk-free, SnoreMedic may be a great choice.

wouldn’t know how it works since your company screwed up and shipped mine to someone else even though you have the correct address, need a 0 rating

  2. Gerald Hogan | May 23, 2018

The mouthpiece itself works fine and it has definitely helped me whether through the allergy season. However, I’m pretty disappointed with the user support. They’ll get you your answer eventually, but it took them way too much time.

For a piece of rubber, it did wonders for my snoring problem. It took a couple of nights to get used to it since hey, you have a piece of rubber in your mouth. The bite-and-boil fitting went without a hitch and a device felt custom-made right from the get go. I know this sounds silly, but I noticed that I could dream again on the very first night I started using it. I no longer wake up during the night with my heart feeling like it’s about to jump out of my chest. The only thing I would add is a bit more vertical opening and a slightly bigger air hole, but I can’t complain with the way things are right now.

Not too comfortable but it works.

  5. Richard Adams | August 22, 2017

It seems that I haven’t molded it right, because my teeth hurt like hell. Too bad, because I did stop snoring.

  6. Sam Hawn | August 2, 2017

The wife says I stopped snoring but I drool like a dog and I can’t get used to wearing it and I’ve worn it for 10 nights already. I’ll give it a few more days.
